Whose Heart is Completely His

"For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth, that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His."
-2 Chronicles 16:9

I spent yesterday evening in quiet meditation (now this is my kind of church), before meeting my mom and dad in Estes Park this morning!

They decided to come for a visit and I'm so excited to show them this beautiful place. Life is a positively amazing thing and God has done some positively amazing things in mine: my parents were actually divorced six years ago, but have each come to know the Lord better (or for the first time) since separating, and I can't remember a time in my life when I loved them both more

One, because I too have learned that strong, character-driven love is a decision, not a feeling: something we generate unconditionally, not based on our judgment of other peoples' performance or our own personal satisfaction with what they are giving to us. That's been such a game changer in my perception of life in every way.
When we're so focused on Christ's love, the mere idea of having any negative energy, thoughts, disdain, or malice toward another is ridiculous; only by focusing intently on His love for me has my ability to truly love others amounted to anything authentic.

And two, because as they have each learned to love God (or at least know Him a little and a little better), somehow the trickle-down affect has been that that love has spread to all those around them. Heightened respect, healthy boundaries, matured individualism, and more selfless action has resulted in not only my parents, but naturally, in everything they have influence over- which includes me.

God has taken a lot of what was broken and made it whole, a lot of what was lost and made it found, a lot of what was pain and made it beauty. Somehow so much of my life has become a story about what seemed broken beyond repair- yet has been made beautiful beyond belief.

And I wouldn't change a thing.
